About me
Alejandro R. Lopez was born in Havana, Cuba, arriving in the U.S. with the Mariel boatlift of 1980 as a refugee. To take full advantage of the American dream he proceeded to obtain his high school diploma to then proceed to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Loyola University in New Orleans in 1986. Subsequently, Alejandro Lopez continued his post-graduate education, obtaining a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1989. He became a Florida Bar member on the same year and has been continuously in the active practice of law in the State of Florida since 1989 until today’s date. He was an acting associate counsel for the State of Florida’s Department of Revenue, Child Support Enforcement Division, establishing paternity and child support orders, as well as enforcing child support orders in court through incarcerations and repayment orders and modifications of support orders. Through his service to the State of Florida, he acquired substantial trial, procedural, and litigation experience. Attorney Lopez has also provided free legal services to the citizens of Orange County, Florida, earning Certificates of Appreciation from the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association. Attorney Lopez, additionally, has served as the voice of minor children in Court through his work as a Guardian Ad Litem in family law cases.
In 1999, Attorney Lopez became a private attorney and owner of the Law Office of Alejandro R. Lopez, P.A. His law practice expanded to include, besides divorce and family law: accidents and personal injury law, immigration and naturalization law, probate law, as well as bankruptcy and foreclosure defense. He has helped hundreds of clients to successfully process their accident and injury; divorce, child support, modifications, support enforcement, domestic violence injunction cases; immigration cases; and probate cases; uncontested and in contested court proceedings. Attorney Lopez is also licensed to practice in the United States Federal Court for the Middle District of Florida, and has also practiced before the Immigration Court of Orlando, Florida. He has litigated cases in the counties of: Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake, Volusia, Leon, Marion, St. John’s, Hillsborough, and Polk, among others.
